Dole Food Company Inc. announced the acquisition of Florida-based SunnyRidge Farm Inc. A leading source of raspberries, strawberries and blackberries, SunnyRidge Farm is known best as one of the top blueberry companies in the United States. In a prepared statement, David DeLorenzo, president and CEO of Dole Food Company, said SunnyRidge’s blueberry and blackberry operations will be a “strategic complement to Dole’s existing fresh and frozen berry operations.” “Blueberries and blackberries are some of the fastest growing items in the produce category and also amongst the most nutritious fruits,” DeLorenzo said. “The SunnyRidge acquisition lets us advance our commitment to providing the consumer with an ever growing array of healthful, nutritious fruits and vegetables.”
