The Valley Economic Development Center has moved its Women’s Business Center to Pacoima to be more centrally located to business owners needing its services. The Women’s Business Center had been located in the VEDC’s offices in Sherman Oaks. The business center opened in 2005 in Santa Clarita. The center offers consulting, training and lending services to small business owners of both genders in the Santa Clarita, Antelope and San Fernando Valleys. “VEDC is very happy to have the opportunity to move our (Women’s Business Center) back into an area that is not only underserved but also geographically accessible to our northern counties,” said Director of Business Services Bob Holguin. In 2010, the Women’s Business Center assisted 786 businesses, generated more than $1 million in business loans and created 35 jobs, the VEDC said.
