Technicolor App Links to Television Programming

Technicolor has released a mobile app that allows viewers access to cast and crew credits and other information on programs they are watching on television. MediaEcho works with broadcast and video-on-demand programing using a high-frequency tone that synchronizes with Technicolor watermark technology. Blu-ray disc content uses the BD-Live technology to link the Blu-ray player and mobile device. The MediaEcho app is compatible with both Apple and Android tablet platforms. Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is one of the first media companies to use the MediaEcho. Viewers can download the app for accessing information for the season three DVD box set of “Sons of Anarchy” and during the season four broadcasts starting with episode nine. Technicolor worked with Fox to create the app and take the second screen experience to a new level, said Lanny Raimondo, head of the entertainment services businesses at Technicolor. “Consumers can now engage in a much more immersive and exciting experience with Sons of Anarchy through our new second screen application — whether they are watching the show on television or Blu-ray Disc,” Raimondo said in a prepared statement.
