Hospitalist Company Purchases Michigan Practice

IPC The Hospitalist Company Inc. added to its holdings in Michigan with the acquisition of an acute care hospitalist practice. The acquisition marks North Hollywood-based IPC’s fourth acquisition in the state in the past 12 months. Mid-Michigan Hospitalist Group, PC, the acquired practice headquartered in Grand Blanc, Mich., has an annualized volume of about 20,000 patient encounters. “With this acquisition we are building upon IPC’s core strength in hospital medicine as we enter one of the area’s largest acute facilities,” said R. Jeffrey Taylor, IPC’s president and chief operating officer. “Additionally, this will give us an opportunity to better coordinate care for patients seen by our existing post-acute practices in the surrounding communities.” Dennis DeSimone, co-owner of Mid-Michigan Hospitalist Group, said the practice is pleased to join IPC. “We look forward to utilizing IPC’s many resources in areas such as recruitment, practice management and technology support,” DeSimone said. “IPC has the tools we need to continue delivering high quality hospitalist service while seeking to grow our practice.” Jessica Vernabe
