Woodland Hills-based Pierce College announced it has added 42 sections of speech, math and English courses for its Spring 2012 semester, which starts Feb. 6. The additions are a response to students’ demands to add more courses, said officials from the community college. In a prepared statement, Anna Davies, Pierce College’s vice president of academic affairs, said the additional classes are critical for students preparing to transfer to four-year universities. “We know that students have struggled to complete their transfer-readiness coursework,” Davies said. “Until recently we were not able to offer enough sessions to meet the student demand and, therefore, we are responding with 42 new sections.”
