Nestle USA Partners with Superior Grocers in Donation to Local Schools

Glendale-based Nestle USA partnered with grocery store chain, Superior Grocers, in donating $144,000 to local schools. Donations of $1,000 were distributed to 144 schools at an event held at the Superior Grocers store in Montebello on Dec. 20. Since 2009, Nestle USA and Superior Grocers have joined forces in donating more than $270,000 in monetary funds as well as school supplies and books to Southern California schools. In a prepared statement, Vanessa Rivera, manager of marketing communications/multicultural for Nestle USA, said the donation demonstrates the company’s commitment to “helping families eat healthy by providing healthier food and beverages while helping to further children’s health education by supporting local schools.” Mimi Song, president & CEO of Superior Grocers, said the grocery chain is pleased to be joined by the global food company in such an important educational program. “In these difficult times, our local schools are in need of many basic supplies and teaching tools for students,” Song said. “We are happy to award these scholarships to the selected schools.”
