Valley Institutions Secure $4 million in Stimulus Money

Research organizations in the greater San Fernando Valley are receiving nearly $4 million in stimulus money, according to a statement from Congressman Brad Sherman. Leading the region’s pack of recipients of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds is Cal State University, Northridge, which will use its share of the money for scientific research. The money comes via the National Institutes of Health. According to Sherman, NIH targeted projects that were “likely to stimulate the economy, create or retain jobs, and have the potential for making scientific progress in two years.” “I’m glad that Valley research institutes, including California State University at Northridge, are continuing to receive federal funding for their innovations,” Sherman said.
