Calabasas Mayor Gives Annual Address

Careful planning will help Calabasas get through the current recession, Mayor Mary Sue Maurer said during the annual state of the city address. Sound fiscal policies keep the city well positioned even if revenues decrease in 2009 due to a slowdown in the economy, Maurer told a standing room crowd at the Calabasas Library on Jan. 21. Milestones from the previous highlighted in Maurer’s address were the opening of the new Calabasas Civic Center and completion of the 2030 General Plan. “Although the city is nearly built-out, intelligent growth still requires careful planning,” Maurer said.
