Robert Samuelson, one of California Lutheran University’s most generous donors, died due to complications from cancer Feb. 17. He was 81. Samuelson played a role in building the Cal Lutheran campus, including the Orville Dahl Centrum, Peters Hall, numerous residence halls, Samuelson Chapel, the Soiland Humanities Center and Samuelson Aquatics Center. In addition to his services as a contractor and donor for the school, Samuelson served on the Board of Regents for 19 years before stepping down in 2004. Samuelson was also a convocator, a CLU Fellow and a member of the New Dimensions Committee, the Chapel Steering Committee, the Chapel Interior Design Committee and the Property and Planning Committee. A memorial service for Samuelson will be held Feb. 27, 11 a.m., at Lutheran Church of the Foothills in La Ca & #324;ada.
