Actress, Hotel Owner Beverly Garland, 82

Actress and San Fernando Valley businesswoman Beverly Garland has died following a lengthy illness. She was 82. Garland appeared in more than 40 films and scores of television shows, including as Fred McMurray’s wife in “My Three Sons” and film noir classic “D.O.A.” In 1972, Garland and husband Fillmore Crank built their mission-style hotel in North Hollywood, now called Beverly Garland’s Holiday Inn, which she remained involved in running, the Los Angeles Times reported. They also built a hotel in Sacramento that bore Garland’s name in the ’80s but later sold it, the Times said. Crank died in 1999. Garland is survived by four children, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
