THQ Adds to Casual Gaming Business

Video game publisher THQ Inc. expanded its casual gaming portfolio with the acquisition of Elephant Entertainment. Terms of the deal between Agoura Hills-based THQ and Elephant were not disclosed. Elephant Entertainment President and COO Wim Stocks will continue to lead the company and reports to Doug Clemmer, president of THQ’s ValuSoft casual games division. THQ plans to release more than 20 new casual and online games this year under the Elephant brand name. In addition, THQ inked a deal with Oberon Media to exclusively distribute its gaming content on multiple platforms. The addition of Elephant and the Oberon Media deal expands the depth and breadth of THQ’s casual and online games, Clemmer said.
