IHOP to Eliminate Oil With Trans Fats

Glendale-based restaurant chain IHOP announced that it will eliminate the use of frying oil with trans fats by Dec. 31. Since 2006, IHOP has worked with suppliers to test fryer oil that is free of artificial trans fat and to ensure that changes will not affect the taste or quality of its menu items. “As the supply of artificial trans fat free oil has become more readily available, we feel comfortable making the system-wide switch in all of IHOP’s 1,319 restaurants,” said Dustin Dixon, IHOP’s Vice President, Product, Quality Assurance and Procurement. IHOP is continuing work with its suppliers to eliminate artificial trans fats from the balance of its menu.
