Fog Clearing at Bob Hope Airport

An American Airlines flight to Dallas-Fort Worth departed this morning from Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, the first departure in 12 hours after heavy fog closed the airfield. As visibility began to improve airport officials still expected delays and cancellations as the airlines serving Bob Hope began to get their flights in order. The trouble started at about 9 p.m. Nov. 18. Flights were diverted to Los Angeles International Airport and Ontario International Airport, said Bob Hope spokesman Victor Gill. Passenger numbers at the airport were lighter than usual for a Monday morning as word of the closure spread through the media. About 10 to 15 people stayed overnight at the airport, Gill said. No fog is forecast for the next several days for the heavily traveled Thanksgiving holiday.
