Environmental Report Ordered on Holy Cross Project

A plan to construct a new patient care tower at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills has been shelved for two months as the city Planning Commission mills over whether the $143 million project needs an environmental impact report. The delay was prompted after concerns were raised from the Sylmar Neighborhood Council, the hospital’s worker union and environmentalists about the traffic and health concerns. The hospital was expected to start construction next year. Plans called for 136 beds and a new neonatal intensive care unit.
