DTS Inc. will work with an Irish company to bring digital cinema equipment to theaters in that country, the company announced Tuesday. Under the agreement Agoura Hills-based DTS will upgrade Digital Cinema Ltd.’s existing theater network to ensure compliance with the latest studio requirements for release of digital cinema movie content. DTS will work with Digital Cinema and local film distributors to acquire, prepare and deliver content to the screens. Digital Cinema Ltd. operates a 500-screen network. The agreement reflects recent moves by DTS to develop its business as a specialist provider of digital cinema services. “Under this change in strategic direction for the company, we are developing our flexible solutions to meet the needs of content owners and exhibitors in the transition to digital cinema,” said Tony Nowak, managing director of DTS’s European cinema business. “We are happy that DCL has chosen to work with us on this upgrade.”
