Ventura Boulevard Parking Scofflaws Beware

The city has assigned five additional traffic officers and three tow trucks to ticket and remove illegally parked cars on a section of Ventura Boulevard during the morning rush hour. Starting Tuesday, cars parked on Ventura Boulevard between the San Diego (405) Freeway and Topanga Canyon Boulevard from 6 to 9 a.m. will be ticketed and towed. Parking along the street at those times is illegal, although the rule was not completely enforced. The additional officers are part of an effort by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to cut down on congestion on the city’s heaviest traveled corridors. A similar effort on Wilshire Boulevard last year issued 17,000 tickets and towed 5,100 cars.
