CSUN School Renamed After Donor

The California State University Board of Trustees has approved renaming a CSUN school after former California Lieutenant Governor and record executive Mike Curb. The Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communication will be dedicated Nov. 8. Curb earlier this year donated $10 million to the university, the school’s largest donation to date. The donation will support the arts college, fund a general endowment for the college and endow a faculty chair for music industry studies. It will also pay for a 1,700-seat performing arts center slated to start construction next fall and open in 2009. Curb graduated from CSUN in the 1960s and went on to become a successful music producer and chairman of Nashville-based Curb Records. He received the school’s Distinguished Alumni Award earlier this year.
