FilmL.A., the city-county agency that handles film permits for the region, will no longer process insurance for production companies shooting on location in Los Angeles. The City Risk Manager will now handle the insurance processing, which L.A. Inc. will verify before issuing permits. FilmL.A., formerly called the Entertainment Industry Development Corp., was formed in 1995 to help coordinate film production with the city and serve as a liaison with the community. For the second quarter ended June 30, FilmL.A. issued permits for 7,853 on-location production days for shoots in the Los Angeles area.
