A Los Angeles City Council committee approved a moratorium on the issuing of permits for new medical marijuana dispensaries in the city. The Planning and Land Use Management Committee asked the Planning Department, police department and city attorney’s office to draft an ordinance banning new medical marijuana outlets for one year while the city investigates which clinics are legal. Former police sergeant and Valley City Councilman Dennis Zine introduced the motion. The ordinance is slated for full council review next year.
