MGA Acquires Minority Interest of Zapf Creation

The owners of MGA Entertainment, Inc. have acquired a minority interest in Zapf Creation, AG, Europe’s leading brand manufacturer of play and functional dolls, the company announced Thursday. The partnership between Isaac Larian and associates and Zapf allows for Zapf to have its products distributed in North America and South America via Van Nuys-based MGA’s infrastructure and for MGA products to be distributed in Europe though Zapf’s infrastructure. MGA is excited about the opportunities the partnership open, Chief Executive Officer Isaac Larian said of the acquisition of 19 percent of the European company. “These synergies have the potential to drive significant value into both companies, creating much higher returns for the shareholders of Zapf,” Larian said. Larian added he would seek representation on Zapf’s Supervisory Board and provide additional capital for the company, if necessary. MGA manufactures the popular Bratz line of dolls and other consumer products.
