IHOP Signs Deal in Mexico

IHOP Corp. has inked a multi-store franchise deal in Mexico, the company’s first deal outside the U.S. since it changed its franchise business model. The agreement gives Junior Foods S.A. de C.V. rights to develop six IHOP restaurants within Nuevo Leon over the next four years, with options for additional development rights. Junior Foods is a Carl’s Jr. franchise operator throughout the Nuevo Leon region. In 2003, IHOP revamped its franchise model, requiring franchisees to build their own stores. IHOP also announced the completion of agreements that would build 23 new restaurants in the next 11 years in California, Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
