Providence Holy Cross announced today that it has been named among the top five percent of hospitals in the nation and is a recipient of the 2006 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence. The study was completed by HealthGrades, which annually produces a rating for every nonfederal hospital in 28 diagnoses and procedures. Only 277 hospitals in the country are given Distinguished Hospital Awards. “Consumers continue to ask for more and better information to help them in their health care decision making,” said Kerry Carmody, administrator of Providence Holy Cross. “This analysis is an apples-to-apples comparison of hospital performance by procedure. This accomplishment reflects the diligent efforts of our Board of Directors, as well as our excellent physicians, nurses, and clinicians, and should be very comforting to area residents.”
