Shea Properties, the development and investment arm of J.F. Shea Co. Inc., has opened a new office in Westlake to service the company’s operations in Oxnard, Ventura, San Fernando Valley and Simi Valley. David Newsome, a retail development specialist, was named to head the operation. The office will focus on mixed-use, retail, office and apartment projects. The first project that will fall under the auspices of the new office is a 700-acre mixed use, master planned community that is now under construction in West Ventura County. Newsome was most recently vice president of development at Westrust, a retail development and management company in Calabasas. He has also held positions with Center trust in Manhattan Beach and The Uhlmann Offices Inc. in Sherman Oaks.
