NEWSMAKERS New Digital Insight Head to Build on Growth Calabasas-based electronic banking services provider Digital Insight Corp. has named Jeffrey E. Stiefler chairman, president and chief executive. Stiefler had served as president of American Express and as president and CEO of IDS Financial Services prior to his arrival at Digital Insight. “The company has a proven business model that is delivering significant growth in profitability and cash flows,” Stiefler said. “My objective is to leverage these considerable strengths and the attractive opportunity in Internet financial services to drive continued strong growth and enhance shareholder value.” Stiefler will replace the company’s longtime chief executive John Dorman who is retiring, although he will remain on the board of directors. During his tenure, Dorman took the publicly-traded company from $26.2 million in revenue in 1999, to $130.4 million in total revenue last year, making it one of the fastest growing companies in the country. “Digital Insight is the undisputed leader in one of the faster-growing and important sectors of the financial services market,” Stiefler said. Stiefler comes to the company after helping IDS grow its net income from $60 million to $500 million during his tenure. Stiefler’s experience includes working with private equity firms and technology companies, such as McCown DeLeeuw & Co. where he served as operating partner and adviser; and International Data Response Corp., an emerging technology firm where he served as its chairman and CEO. Stiefler holds a bachelor’s degree from Williams College in Massachusetts and a master’s in business administration from Harvard University. Carlos Martinez Entertainment Universal Domestic Television has promoted Bruce Casino to senior vice president cable network and ancillary sales. He will oversee sales at the studio’s film and television library. Vince Marchica has been named vice president creative at DIC Entertainment Corp.’s consumer products unit. He will oversee creative development of the Burbank-based company’s licensing and merchandising efforts. DIC also promoted Cindy Davis to vice president of domestic licensing and promoted Ryan Gagerman to executive director international licensing. Warner Bros. Television has promoted Beverly Metoyer to senior vice president of human resources. She has been with the company since 1989 when it was known as Lorimar Television. Hospitals John H. Quinn was named president of the Verdugo Hills Hospital Foundation. Quinn will be responsible for all fundraising activities for the hospital and help organize programs and events. A 30-year banking industry veteran, Quinn previously served as president and chief executive officer of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Foundation. Verdugo Hills Hospital is a 158-bed, acute care facility. Not-for-Profit Warren Cooley has been named assistant director of the North Los Angeles Small Business Development Center. Cooley was previously satellite manager for the Gold Coast SBDC in Ventura. Technology John Tucker, formerly Allied Signal’s Aerospace Equipment Systems president, has been named CEO of Chatsworth-based Capstone Turbine Corp. He replaces Emily Ligett who had served as interim CEO following the departure of company founder and CEO Ake Almgren last year. Capstone also named Carmine F. Bosco to its board of directors. Bosco is president of the Blackmer division of the Dover Corporation. Calabasas-based Tekelec has named Marty Kaplan to its board of directors and promoted Lori Craven to executive vice president, global sales and marketing group. Kaplan had served as chairman of the board of Santera Systems and as executive vice president of SBC. Craven had been leading the company’s Global Sales and Marketing Group. The board of directors of Youbet.com has elected company CEO Charles F. Champion to chairman of the board. He replaces Lawrence R. Lucas who resigned earlier this month. CNM Network has appointed Randy Mueller to chief marketing officer and Vicki Hudspeath to senior vice president of sales. Mueller had been president and CEO of software-maker Impart Knowledge. Hudspeath had been vice president of sales and service at SBC/Ameritech. Real Estate Tony G. Azzi was promoted to the position of vice president of investments at Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Brokerage Co. His new title recognizes his achievements as a sales agent. Azzi, who is based in the firm’s Encino headquarters, specializes in multi-family properties in West Los Angeles. He has ranked among the firm’s top 20 agents nationwide in two of the past three years.
