The Newsmakers Accounting Robert (Bob) J. Pearlman CPA has been named a partner with the firm of BDO Seidman LLP. Pearlman is a partner in the assurance practice and will work in the Los Angeles office, focusing on middle-market growth companies in the manufacturing, distribution and technology arenas. Most recently, he was an assurance partner with Grant Thornton LLP in Los Angeles, where he also led the firm’s technology industry practice group for Southern California. Prior to Grant Thornton, Pearlman was the managing partner of Pearlman & Markle, CPAs. He is currently president of the Los Angeles Venture Association and vice chairman of the Valley Industry and Commerce Association. He also serves on the advisory boards of Professionals Network Group Inc. and the Central Coast Venture Forum. Scott M. Sachs CPA has joined Good Swartz Brown & Berns LLP as an audit partner in the firm’s Studio City office. Prior to joining GSBB, Sachs was a partner at Arthur Andersen LLP where he gained significant experience guiding clients through initial and secondary public offerings, debt and equity financing, and acquisition and divestiture analysis. Communications NetworkOmni of Thousand Oaks announced that Stephen Woodworth of Camarillo has joined the company as president and a member of its board of directors. Prior to joining NetworkOmni, he was the president of Channel Islands Equities, a private investment banking firm in Oxnard. Education Woodbury University has appointed Kenneth J. Jones vice president for finance and administration. Jones has served as Woodbury’s controller for the past year. He was controller for Otis College of Art and Design prior to joining Woodbury. Entertainment Beth Cleary has been named vice president of human resources for the Walt Disney Internet Group. Responsible for all WDIG human resource functions at all locations, she will lead teams in employee relations, compensation, recruiting, training and diversity. Cleary was previously with ABC Family, a division of The Walt Disney Company that manages the ABC Family Channel, where she was senior vice president of human resources and administration. Cleary joined the organization in 1996 when it was Fox Family Worldwide, which included Fox Family, Fox Kids Network, International Fox Kids Channels and Saban Entertainment. Lorenzo di Bonaventura has been promoted to the newly created position of executive vice president, Worldwide Motion Pictures, Warner Bros., taking on added responsibilities in a partial restructuring of Warner Bros. Pictures’ operations. As part of the restructuring, Jeff Robinov has been named president, domestic production, Warner Bros. Pictures and Steve Papazian has been named president, physical production, Warner Bros. Pictures. Di Bonaventura will now have oversight of every aspect of production from development to acquisitions to physical production. In his new role, Robinov takes charge of the majority of the day-to-day development process for feature films produced or co-produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, with the creative production staff and the story department reporting to him. Former Electronic Arts executive Keith McCurdy has joined Thousand Oaks-based special effects house Rebel Arts Inc. as chief strategy officer and a member of the board of directors. At Electronic Arts, McCurdy oversaw the development and launch of Ultima Online, the game industry’s first successful massively multiplayer online game. Law Encino attorney Dee Miller Siegel has been installed as president of the National Conference of Bar Foundations of the American Bar Association. Siegel is a former president of the Valley Community Legal Foundation and the San Fernando Valley Bar Association. Her areas of practice include trust and estate planning, family law and business law. Manufacturing Tom Jorgenson has been named chief financial officer of Chatsworth Products Inc. Besides his financial management responsibilities, Jorgenson will oversee the Westlake Village company’s information systems department. Previously, he spent more than 10 years in finance and management positions with Harman International Industries. Real Estate Scott Darling has been named a partner and will serve as managing director of portfolio management at Glendale-based American Realty Advisors. Previously, Darling was director of portfolio management at the firm which manages real estate investments for institutional investors. Technology Enterprise Solution Group has announced that Larry Deeder will head up its new network security service line.
