Consulting Mark Previty has been named vice president of special projects with the Buxbaum Group, an Encino-based retailing and consumer products consulting firm. He will be responsible for the financial oversight of a variety of special consulting projects in addition to performing evaluations of companies seeking asset-based financing. Prior to joining Buxbaum, he was director of finance administration for restaurant operator Ruby Tuesday Inc. In addition, Arnold M. Rubenstein has been named turnaround project manager at the Buxbaum Group. He will work on corporate turnaround projects and will assist with the closeout division. Previously, he worked for the firm’s predecessor company, Buxbaum, Ginsberg & Associates as a project manager on liquidations and inventory evaluations. Richard F. Wortham (pic forum8/3) has joined the Encino office of Carter & Burgess Inc. He will serve as project coordinator and will specialize in telecommunications, rail and facility projects for the construction management division. Prior to joining Carter & Burgess, he was senior utility coordinator on the Alameda Corridor transportation project. Entertainment Barbara Chase has been named director of daytime and special projects at the North Hollywood headquarters of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. She will coordinate all daytime activities between ATAS and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and will also direct and coordinate special projects. Chase was an actress before joining ATAS in 1989 as an awards administrator. Karen Kendrick has joined Burbank-based Disney Consumer Products as director, global leadership and organization development. She will lead worldwide organization design, talent/succession planning, executive development, training, and organization effectiveness incentives. Most recently, she was director of management and organization development for Universal Studios Hollywood. Jan Nagel has joined North Hollywood-based VirtualMagic Animation Inc. as director of business development and marketing. She will be responsible for the planning and implementation of marketing strategies and new business development. Previously, Nagel served as director of marketing and communications for Calico Entertainment. Scott Seviour has been promoted to director of talent development at the Disney Channel in Burbank. He will be responsible for all aspects of talent relations and celebrity bookings for Disney Channel projects. Before joining the Disney Channel, Seviour was manager of talent relations for Nickelodeon and Nick at Night. Jon Vein has been promoted to executive vice president at North Hollywood-based Film Roman Inc. He will oversee all feature film projects, business and legal affairs, and all new business opportunities. Prior to joining Film Roman in 1995, Vein was a partner at film finance company Dern & Vein. Health Care Bill Gil has joined the Burbank offices of UniMed Management Co. as senior vice president of managed care. He will be responsible for overseeing UniMed’s managed care contracting, provider network contracting and management services operations. Prior to joining UniMed, Gil was regional director for the American Medical Group Association. High Tech Jeffrey M. Erle has been appointed president of Litton Industries Solutions. He will be based at Litton’s Woodland Hills headquarters. Previously, he served as vice president and general manager of Automatic Data Processing Inc.’s dealer services division’s Western region. Also, Kelly M. Coffield has been appointed president of the Litton life support division. In his previous position as director of commercial products, Coffield led the company’s efforts to commercialize its defense technologies and gain footing in the respiratory health care market. Media KNBC-TV Channel 4 in Burbank has promoted six members of its news department. Carol Morton has been named executive producer for the morning shows “Today in LA,” “Mid Day Report” and the Channel 4 News at 11:30 a.m. Steve Garcia has been named producer of “Today in LA.” Chris Licht has been promoted to producer for the Channel 4 News at 11 p.m. Keiko Imai-Johnson has been named producer for the Channel 4 News at 6 p.m. Rob Feldman has been promoted to producer of the Channel 4 News at 5 p.m. Becky Martinez has been appointed executive producer of specials and news events. She will oversee the weekend newscasts and special assignments for the Channel 4 News. Laurie Younger has been promoted to senior vice president and chief financial officer at ABC. Younger, who will be working out of the New York and Burbank offices, will be responsible for all financial matters within ABC’s human resources, purchasing, real estate and administration areas. She was previously a senior vice president at ABC. Multimedia Harry Medved has been appointed to the newly created position of director of public relations at Burbank-based Warner Bros. Online. His duties will include strategizing with Warner Bros. Online executive staff on publicity campaigns for future sites, managing publicity for Warner Bros. Online’s Web sites and commercial services, and coordinating interviews, press conferences and speaking engagements for Warner Bros. Online executives. He previously served as director of public relations for InterActive Agency and as national director of communications for the Screen Actors Guild. Real Estate William L. Bereczky has joined Glendale-based American Realty Advisors as assistant vice president of asset management. He has been involved in commercial real estate for nearly 14 years, working as an independent consultant. Also, Greg Blomstrand has joined American Realty as an assistant asset manager. He has been involved in commercial real estate for almost seven years, working for such firms as Prentiss Properties Trust. Retail Ron Mann has been appointed senior vice president and general merchandise manager for the La Canada office of Sport Chalet Inc. He comes to Sports Chalet from Big-5 Sporting Goods in El Segundo, where most recently he served as merchandise manager.
